A guided path from creating a practice business to reviewing reports.
Create a practice business
Use fictional data while learning. Understand the company details, accounting period and basic configuration before entering transactions.
Build a small set of accounts
Create ledgers for capital, bank, cash, a customer, a supplier, sales, purchases and a routine expense. Think about the purpose of each ledger before selecting its group.
Enter and review transactions
Practice receipts, payments, purchases, sales and journal entries. Review each voucher against its document, then check the day book, ledger and trial balance.
Finish with reports and a backup
Review a few financial reports and trace a total back to its vouchers. Keep a backup of the practice data. The aim is to understand the accounting behind the entry, not only the software steps.
